Hunley to lead Perritt Primary
ARKADELPHIA, AR  -  Arkadelphia Public Schools named Callie Hunley as Principal of Louisa E. Perritt Primary School on Tuesday night at the regular meeting of the Arkadelphia Board of Education.  Hunley currently serves as principal of Oscar Hamilton Elementary School in Foreman, Arkansas.
A graduate of Ashdown High School, Hunley earned a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology from Ouachita Baptist University in 1989 and a master’s degree in special education from Texas A&M University in Texarkana in 2001.  Additionally, she earned a building-level administrators license from Southern Arkansas University.
“Callie Hunley will be a great addition to our leadership team in Arkadelphia,” said Arkadelphia Superintendent Donnie Whitten.  “She brings a strong background in elementary curriculum and the administrative experience needed to lead Perritt into the future. We are fortunate to have Ms. Hunley and excited about the great things in store for our students.”
Hunley spent the last six years as the elementary principal of a 340-student school in the Foreman School District.  She has also served as a literacy coach, pre-k, and kindergarten teacher during her 19-year career as an educator.  She currently serves as a board member for the Arkansas Association of Elementary School Principals in Little Rock and is considered a leader in the state in the area of curriculum and instruction.
“I would like to thank the administration and board for the opportunity to be part of this great school district,” said Hunley. “Being part of Louisa E. Perritt Primary, a school so rich in history and with a tradition of excellence, is exciting. I look forward to returning to Arkadelphia.”
Hunley will assume her duties with the Arkadelphia School District on July 1, 2012.
